Overview

ClearDepth is a water safety app for boaters. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your information.

We do not sell your data to third parties — ever.

Data We Collect

We never collect: Payment or financial information • Contacts • Browsing history • Background location • Any data sold to advertisers

How We Use Your Data

To operate your account and authenticate you securely
To display your profile and contributions within the app
To show you hazards near your current location
To send proximity alerts as you approach flagged areas
To improve app reliability using anonymized crash reports

We do not use your data for advertising or share it with advertisers.

USGS National Water Information System — Public water level data. No user data is sent to USGS.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Hazard reports and chat messages you submit are stored and visible to other users of the same lake community.

If you delete your account, your profile data is removed. Some community contributions (hazard reports) may remain to preserve safety information for other users.

Your Rights

Access: You can view your profile data within the app at any time.
Correction: You can update your display name, boat info, and profile photo in the app's Profile tab.
Deletion: You can delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. This removes your profile data from our servers.
Location: You can revoke location permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings → ClearDepth → Location.
Data portability: Contact us to request a copy of your data.

Children's Privacy

ClearDepth is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
